Why does my white tip look grey or my set cloudy?
A grey tip means too few white dips or a thin base on the tip: dip the tip twice with a fresh base coat each time, or use the molding tool. A cloudy set means the Sealer Dry had not flashed off or dust was left after buffing: let it flash, brush and wipe, then top. Powder on the skin at the cuticle is what makes a French lift.

How to dip an SNS French set
- Prep. Push back, remove shine, dust, dehydrate, then SNS E.A Bond.
- Base and clear. A thin coat of SNS Gelous Base or Gel Base, dip in Crystal Clear, tap and brush off.
- Tip. Base on the free edge only, at the angle of the smile line, dip the tip into French White or American White, brush off; a second tip dip for a crisp white, or press the nail into the French dip molding loaded with white for an even smile.
- Bed. Base over the whole nail, dip in Clear Pink or an Ombre Nude, brush off.
- Cap and seal. Base and a dip of Crystal Clear over the whole nail, SNS Sealer Dry, shape and buff, a second Sealer Dry, then SNS Gel Top in two thin coats. No lamp at any step.
Sculpting with the 5-in-1 Formula
Because the jars are typed as dipping and acrylic powder, the same Crystal Clear, whites, and pinks sculpt a French or natural extension with monomer. Pick up a bead of EMA monomer on an acrylic brush, place the white at the free edge on a form or tip and press the smile line, place the pink or nude bead at the apex and float it toward the cuticle, cap the whole nail in a thin clear bead, then file and finish with top. Why a French dip lifts or looks cloudy, and the fix
- The white tip looks grey: too few dips or a thin base on the tip. Dip the tip twice with a fresh base coat each time, and brush off between dips.
- The smile line is fuzzy: base spread past the tip line. Paint the base on the tip only, at the angle of the smile, or use the molding tool.
- The set looks cloudy after top: Sealer Dry had not flashed off, or dust was left after buffing. Let it flash, brush and wipe, then top.
- Lifting at the cuticle: powder on the skin. Leave a hairline margin with the base and brush the powder away from the cuticle before the sealer.
Reorder workflow: keeping whites white
Keep a separate scoop for the white and the pink, since a grain of pink in the white jar dulls the smile line on every set that follows; close the jar between dips, work from a tray, and sift reclaimed powder before it goes back into a working jar, never into the stock jar.
