How to apply LAVIS Poly Gel

Why poly gel lifts, and how to stop it
- Lifting at the cuticle: the bead was pushed onto the skin, or the base coat was skipped. Leave a hairline margin at the cuticle and always cure a base first.
- Lifting at the sidewalls: the slip solution was flooded rather than brushed, so the gel never met the nail there. Wet the brush, do not pour, and press the gel into the sidewall groove.
- Cracking at the stress point: the apex was too thin. Build the apex over the stress area a touch thicker than the rest and cure from underneath as well on a long extension.
- Sticky after cure: the lamp is under-powered for the thickness. Cure 60 seconds, wipe, and if it is still tacky, cure again; thick sculpts take two cures.
What poly gel is made of, and why it needs slip solution
LAVIS poly gel is roughly 30 percent acrylic powder blended into 70 percent builder gel. The powder gives it the body of an acrylic bead and the strength for a long extension; the gel base means it never sets until the lamp, has no monomer odor, and cures with the low heat of the LAVIS builder line. The trade-off is that the bead is tacky and will not spread on a dry brush, which is why slip solution is not optional: the brush is dipped, blotted, and used to press the bead, and a station that runs out of slip solution stops.
