What is the difference between clear, natural, and cover powder?

- Prep. Push back, buff, dehydrate, primer; apply the tip or fit the form.

- Bed. A bead of cover or natural pink from the cuticle area to the smile line, patted thin at the cuticle and built to the apex.
- Cap. A thin bead of clear over the whole nail to seal and add the glass depth (optional on cover-only sets).
- File, buff, top. Shape the sidewalls and free edge, buff, and finish with a gel top coat or air-dry top.

Cover powder or clear plus color: two ways to the same nail
A natural-looking set can be built two ways from this page. The first is a cover powder on its own: the bead carries the nude or pink, the set is filed and topped, and the color is inside the enhancement, so a chip does not show a different color underneath and the fill rebuilds in the same jar. The second is a clear or natural sculpt with a gel nude painted over it, which gives the tech a wider choice of shade from the gel wall and lets the client change color at the fill without a new set.
