HOLIDAY GIFT SETS

Frequently asked questions about gift sets

What kinds of sets are in the holiday gift set collection?

Close to 800 boxed sets and bundles: gel color sets of 3 to 48 shades, DND gel and lacquer 6-piece bundles, LDS and SNS dip powder collections, LAVIS builder gel kits, gel starter kits that include an LED lamp, 8 oz base and top refills with free 0.5 oz bottles, and the seasonal holiday and fall collections. LAVIS, Chaun Legend, LDS, OPI, and SNS carry most of the page, with DND, Kiara Sky, Apres, A'DOR, and Young Nails alongside.

Which set is right for someone new to gel nails?

A starter kit with the lamp included. The DND Gel Basic Kit and the OPI Intelli-Gel Basic Kit both ship base gel, a color, top gel, and the LED lamp in one box. Gel only sets under a lamp, so a color set without one is a gift for someone who already cures gel at home. Add a file, buffer, cuticle pusher, and cuticle oil from the nail tool pages to complete the kit.

Are sets cheaper than buying the bottles separately?

Yes. Not always; at ND most sets are priced at the single-bottle price times the count, so the saving is in order lines and in the extras rather than in the per-bottle price. Some sets do cost less per bottle than singles (the LAVIS 12-color cat eye sets and the LAVIS holiday gel sets with base and top), and the listing shows the set price against the count. Bundles marked with a free item, such as a free color sample, a free cat eye, or free bottles with an 8 oz refill, add that item at no charge.

How long does a gel set last, and how is it applied?

Prep the nail, cure one thin coat of base gel under LED, cure two thin coats of color, then seal with top gel and cap the free edge. Cure times run 30 to 60 seconds per layer depending on the brand. With cuticle oil daily and gloves for cleaning, the set wears 2 to 3 weeks. Remove with a 100 percent acetone foil wrap for about 10 minutes rather than peeling.

Is this collection sold at wholesale?

Yes. Every set at ND Nails Supply is wholesale-priced for everyone, with no business license, no minimum order, and no membership fee. Orders $100+ ship free, which most sets on this page clear on their own, and in-stock sets ordered before 2pm PT on weekdays leave the same day.

What counts as a holiday gift set at ND

This page gathers every boxed set and bundle at ND Nails Supply that works as a gift or as a one-order restock: gel polish sets of 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, and 48 colors, gel and lacquer 6-piece bundles, dip powder collections, builder gel kits, gel starter kits that include a lamp, base and top refill bundles with free bottles, and the seasonal holiday and fall collections from the brands ND stocks. Close to 800 sets are listed, with LAVIS, Chaun Legend, LDS, OPI, and SNS carrying most of them, plus DND, DND DC, DND Diva, Kiara Sky, Apres, A'DOR, and Young Nails.

The reason a salon shops here instead of the single-bottle pages is the per-shade cost: a set is one order line for a whole palette, and the seasonal sets land here first, before the shades reach the brand pages as singles.

How to pick a set for the person (or the salon)

  • Someone new to gel: a starter kit with the lamp included. The DND Gel Basic Kit and the OPI Intelli-Gel Basic Kit both ship base, color, top, and the lamp in one box, so there is nothing to add.
  • Someone who already owns a lamp: a 6 or 9-color gel set with base and top, such as the LAVIS Holiday Collection sets (7 gel polishes plus base and top) or an LDS Gel Kit with base and top.
  • A dip user: an LDS or SNS dip collection. The SNS Pink and White kit is the classic French starter.
  • A working tech: the big palettes (LAVIS 48-color sets, Chaun Legend sets, Kiara Sky Gel Pro edits) and the refill bundles with free bottles. Those are the ones with the whole set in one order.
  • A seasonal client gift: the holiday and fall themed sets (DND Sparkle Season and Holiday Favs bundles, LDS Holiday Color Pop, Kiara Sky The Holiday Edit, LAVIS Amber Crystal and Amber Jelly). Filter by the Color_Holiday tag.

What is in a gel starter kit, and what is not

A starter kit has the four things a gel manicure cannot skip: base gel, color, top gel, and a lamp to cure them. What it does not include is prep: a file, a buffer, a cuticle pusher, and a dehydrator or alcohol wipe. Add those from the nail tool pages, and a bottle of cuticle oil for the client to take home. Gel layers only set under the lamp; they will not air-dry, so a set without a lamp is only a gift for someone who already cures gel.

How to use a gel set

  1. Push back the cuticles, lightly buff the shine off the nail, and wipe clean.
  2. Brush on a thin coat of base gel and cure under the LED lamp (30 to 60 seconds depending on brand).
  3. Apply two thin coats of color, curing after each.
  4. Seal with top gel, cap the free edge, and cure. Wipe the tacky layer with alcohol unless the top is no-wipe.
  5. For toes, or a quick no-lamp change, use the matching lacquer from a duo bundle; it air-dries.

A gel set wears 2 to 3 weeks with cuticle oil daily and gloves for cleaning. Remove with a 100 percent acetone foil wrap, never by peeling.

Which brands have the most sets here?

LAVIS leads with the widest range of formats: cat eye 6-color sets, 12 and 48-color gel sets, holiday collections with base and top, builder gel kits, and 8 oz refills with free bottles. Chaun Legend is next with its 6-color and 10-color gel bundles and the 240-color full collection. LDS brings 6-color, 18-color, and kit-with-base-and-top gel sets plus the dip collections. OPI is here through the Intelli-Gel Basic Kits, the Intelli-Gel Combo sets, and the 24-color seasonal gel sets. SNS covers dip powder and liquid combos. DND, DND DC, and DND Diva supply the 6-piece gel and lacquer bundles, and Kiara Sky, Apres, A'DOR, and Young Nails round out the premium end. Filter by brand in the sidebar to see one house at a time.

What a set saves, and what it does not

Every set on this page is one listing for several items, and the larger the set the fewer order lines; at ND most sets are priced at the single price times the count, so the saving is in the order sheet and the extras rather than in the per-bottle price, with a few exceptions such as the LAVIS 12-color cat eye sets and the LAVIS holiday gel sets that include base and top. Bundles marked with a free item (a free color sample, a free cat eye, free 0.5 oz bottles with an 8 oz refill, a free dust collector with a full-line collection) add that item at no charge on top of the set price. All sets are wholesale-priced for everyone, with no business license, no minimum order, and no membership fee.

The sets that sell to clients are the ones that are complete in the box: color plus base and top, or color plus a lamp. The sets that sell to salons are the ones that put a whole season on the wall in one order. Both are on this page, and the sidebar brand filter separates the client-gift brands (DND, OPI, Kiara Sky) from the house sets that stock a chart.

Turning a gift set into a service

A gift set sold at the desk is also a future appointment. Salons that retail the LAVIS holiday sets or the DND 6-piece bundles write the numbers in the box on the client's card, so that when the recipient comes in for a manicure the tech has the same shades on the wall and the client gets the color she was given, done professionally. The Intelli-Gel Basic Kit works the same way for the OPI client: the kit goes home, the salon keeps the same codes on its gel wall, and the mani-pedi match is available when she books. That is why most salons stock the gift sets in the same lines they run on the floor rather than in a separate brand.

What the set does not include

  • A lamp, unless the listing says so: gel color sets and duo bundles need an LED lamp, which the gift buyer adds from the lamp page or the salon supplies at the service.
  • Prep and removal: a dehydrator, a file, lint-free wipes, and acetone are not in a color set; the builder kits include the bond and primer, the color sets do not.
  • A base and top, unless the set is one of the "with base and top" listings; a gift buyer who picks a plain color set adds the brand's base and top so the recipient can use it.
  • Magnets for a cat eye set, without which the set is a shimmer gel.
