Frequently asked questions
What is in the other nail tools collection?
Around 50 desk tools that do not fit the file, nipper, or drill pages: French silicone jelly stampers and seals, heart and bunny cat eye effect tools and a non-magnet finger rest, dust and manicure brushes, gel remover and scraper tools, a cuticle pusher, cuticle and trimming scissors, flush-cut pliers, a practice hand, blank swatch palettes, disinfectant jars, a vented steel tray, the LAVIS airbrush, the LDS cordless callus remover machine, DND stiletto tips, and the Kiara Sky French dip mold.
How does the French silicone stamper work?
Cure the nude or pink base, paint a thin arc of white gel on the edge of the clear jelly head or press the head into white on a palette, then roll the stamper onto the free edge so the arc lands as the smile line; the clear head shows the placement. Tidy with a clean-up brush and cure. The French Silicone Seal does the same with a curved edge that is pressed, and the set carries several curve widths.
What are the heart and bunny cat eye tools?
Shaped tools held over wet cat eye gel to pull the magnetic particles into a heart or bunny silhouette instead of a line. The 5D non-magnet finger rest holds the client's finger still and level while the tool works, which is what makes ten matching shapes possible. Cure immediately after shaping so the particles do not drift.
Which tools belong at every station?
A dust brush and a manicure brush, because filing dust under a gel base is the most common cause of lifting; a steel cuticle pusher and cuticle scissors that go in the disinfectant jar; a disinfectant jar and a vented tray for sanitation; a scraper for cured gel drips; and a blank swatch palette per new collection. The practice hand, airbrush, and callus machine are one-per-salon items.
Are these tools sold at wholesale?
Yes. Every tool at ND Nails Supply is wholesale-priced for everyone, with no business license, no minimum order, and no membership fee, and most ship in the same box as a color order. Orders $100+ ship free, and in-stock tools ordered before 2pm PT on weekdays leave the same day.
Other nail tools: the desk tools that do not fit another page
Every nail desk has a drawer of tools that are not files, nippers, or drill bits: the silicone French stamper, the dust brush, the cat eye shaping tool, the finger rest, the swatch stick, the practice hand, the flush-cut pliers, the disinfectant jar. This page is that drawer at ND Nails Supply, around 50 listings at wholesale, most of them small items bought one or two at a time, plus a few bigger items such as the LAVIS airbrush and the LDS cordless callus remover machine. The listings are grouped below by what they are for, because the titles alone do not always say.

How the French silicone stamper works
- Cure the base color. Apply and cure the nude or pink bed as usual.
- Load the stamper. Paint a thin arc of white gel along the edge of the clear jelly stamper head, or press the head into a thin layer of white on a palette.
- Press. Roll the stamper onto the free edge so the arc lands as the smile line; the clear head lets the tech see the placement through it.
- Clean and cure. Tidy the line with a clean-up brush dipped in cleanser, then cure. Ten identical smile lines in the time a hand-painted French takes for three.
The French Silicone Seal does the same job with a curved silicone edge that is pressed rather than rolled; the set carries several curve widths for different nail sizes.

Setting up and maintaining the powered tools
- Airbrush. Thin the gel, paint, or pigment to a milk consistency, load a small amount, and test on a swatch stick before the nail; spray in short passes from a few inches away, and flush the cup with cleanser between colors. The quick-release nozzle comes off for a full clean at the end of the day, which is what keeps the mist fine.
- Callus remover. Charge fully before the first use, run it on softened skin after the soak in light circular passes, and stop when the skin is smooth rather than pink; wipe and disinfect the head between clients and let the unit dry before it goes back on the charger.
- French seal and stamper. Load the seal from the polish or gel, press once, lift straight up; wash in warm soapy water, never acetone, and store flat so the silicone keeps its edge.
- Steel tools. Scrub, disinfect for the full contact time in the Disinfectant Jar, rinse, dry, and store dry; the carbon steel clippers rust first if left wet.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Airbrush spits or spatters | Product too thick, or dried product in the nozzle | Thin the product, flush the cup, pull and clean the nozzle |
| French seal leaves a ragged line | Too much polish on the seal, or a seal that has picked up dust | Load less, wipe the seal, press once without sliding |
| Callus remover slows down | Battery low, or skin worked dry | Charge; soak the foot first |
| Cat eye bands uneven across the hand | Magnet angle changed between nails | Brace the client's finger on the finger rest and hold the same angle on all ten |
| Tools spotting with rust | Stored wet after disinfection | Dry fully on the vented tray before the drawer |
Cat eye shaping tools and the finger rest
The Heart and Bunny tools are shaped magnets: held over wet cat eye gel, they pull the particles into a heart or a bunny silhouette instead of a line, and the 5D finger rest holds the client's finger still and level while the magnet works, which is the difference between ten matching hearts and ten different ones. Both are small, cheap, and the reason the heart cat eye design is on so many menus.
Which of these belongs at every station
- A dust brush and a manicure brush: filing dust under a gel base is the most common cause of lifting.
- A cuticle pusher and cuticle scissors: the prep pair, in steel so they go in the disinfectant jar.
- A disinfectant jar and a vented tray: the sanitation pair the state board looks for.
- A scraper: for cured gel drips on the desk and the lamp.
- A swatch palette: one blank chart per new collection, so the wall matches the bottles.
The practice hand, the airbrush, and the callus machine are one-per-salon purchases: the hand for training a new tech and for photographing sets, the airbrush for aura and ombre nails at speed, and the callus machine for the pedicure chair that runs a callus service without a blade.
Why the small tools matter more than they cost
A French stamper turns a fifteen-minute hand-painted French into a two-minute press, which over a day of clients is an extra service or two. A dust brush used before every base coat is the cheapest lifting prevention a salon can buy. A blank swatch palette filled the day a set arrives is the difference between a client choosing from the wall and a tech guessing from the bottle. A practice hand lets a new tech do a hundred sets before her first client. None of these are expensive, all of them are bought once or twice a year, and most of them are the first thing a tech notices missing at a new station, which is why they sit on one page: an order for the color wall can pick up the tools in the same box.
How to keep steel tools salon-ready
- Wash scissors, pushers, pliers, and scrapers with soap and water after each client to remove debris.
- Disinfect by full immersion in the jar for the contact time on the disinfectant label, then rinse and dry.
- Store in a sterilization pouch or on the vented tray, never loose in a drawer.
- Replace scissors when the tips no longer meet and pushers when the edge is nicked; a dull tool tears cuticle rather than cutting it.
