Dipping with LDS powder, step by step
- Prep. Push back the cuticle, remove shine with a 180 grit file, dust, and dehydrate. Prep is where lifting is decided; a shiny or oily plate lifts within the week no matter how good the powder is.
- Bond. A thin coat of LDS #1 E.A Bond on the natural nail, air dry.
- Base and dip. Brush LDS #2 Base Coat over two thirds of the nail, avoiding the skin, dip the nail into the jar or a dip tray, tap off the excess, and brush away the loose powder. Repeat with base over the whole nail for the second coat; a third coat adds strength for a client who is hard on her hands.
- Activate. LDS #3 Sealer Dry over the powder, wait a minute, then shape and buff smooth. A second coat of Sealer Dry after filing, and wipe.
- Top. Two thin coats of LDS #4 Top Coat, drawn on quickly so the brush does not drag; the top self-levels to the gel-like shine the line is known for. No lamp at any step.
- Brush care. Wipe the base and top brushes in LDS #5 Brush Saver between clients so powder does not set in the bristles and thicken the liquid.
