Frequently asked questions

What kinds of nail stickers are on this page?

Around 180 sheets: Joyful Nail MO series 3D self-adhesive stickers (hearts, bears, flowers, cherries, emoji), JO series flat decals for full-nail patterns and French accents, SD series 5D embossed stickers, YT spray-painting stencils (French tips, plaid, hearts and stars, bows, sparkle shapes), seasonal summer and holiday sheets, and cartoon and character designs. All are peel-and-press except the stencils, which you polish over and peel off.

How do I apply a nail sticker so it does not peel?

Put it under the top coat, not over it. Cure the gel color (or let lacquer dry completely), lift the sticker with tweezers, set it down from the cuticle side and press it flat so no air is trapped, then apply top coat over the whole nail, wrap the free edge, and cure. For raised 3D and 5D stickers, run the top coat around the sticker's edges as well. Sealed this way it lasts the life of the manicure.

How do the spray-painting stencils work?

Cure the base color you want to show through, press the stencil onto the nail and smooth the edges, then sponge, brush, or airbrush the second color over it. Peel the stencil off while the color is still wet for the crispest edge, cure, and top coat. The YT stencils are durable enough to reuse across several nails.

Can nail stickers be used with gel?

Yes. On a gel manicure, apply the sticker to the cured color, then top gel and cure. On lacquer, wait until the color is fully dry, apply the sticker, and top coat again. Stickers are single use and come off with the manicure: soak-off for gel, remover for lacquer. Store sheets flat in their packaging, away from heat, so the adhesive stays tacky.

Are nail stickers sold at wholesale?

Yes. Every sheet and stencil at ND Nails Supply is wholesale-priced for everyone, with no business license, no minimum order, and no membership fee. Orders $100+ ship free, and in-stock sheets ordered before 2pm PT on weekdays leave the same day. Filter by the summer, holiday, or gift-under-$10 tag in the sidebar.

Nail stickers: art in minutes, no painting

A nail sticker is the fastest way to add a design a tech would otherwise hand-paint: peel it, press it onto a cured or dried base color, seal it under top coat, and the nail is done. ND Nails Supply stocks around 180 sticker sheets at wholesale, from the Joyful Nail MO series of 3D self-adhesive stickers and the JO flat decal series to the SD 5D embossed sheets, the YT spray-painting stencils, seasonal summer and holiday designs, and cartoon and character sheets. Most sheets are priced as a single-service consumable, which is why they work as an add-on charge on any manicure.

How to apply a nail sticker so it lasts

  1. Base color first. Apply and cure the gel color (or let lacquer dry completely). Stickers go on a finished, dry surface, never into wet polish.
  2. Pick the size. Hold the sheet against the nail and choose a design that clears the sidewalls and the free edge.
  3. Peel and place. Lift the sticker with tweezers and set it down from the cuticle side; press it flat with a silicone tool or the back of a dotting tool so no air is trapped.
  4. Seal. Apply top coat over the whole nail, wrapping the free edge, and cure. For a raised 3D or 5D sticker, run the top coat around the edges of the sticker as well as over it so nothing lifts.

Pro tip: on a gel manicure, put the sticker on the cured color, then top gel and cure. On lacquer, wait until the color is fully dry, apply the sticker, and top coat once more. A sticker under top coat lasts the life of the manicure; a sticker over top coat peels in days.

How to use the spray-painting stencils

  1. Apply and cure the base color you want to show through.
  2. Press the stencil onto the nail and smooth the edges down.
  3. Sponge, brush, or airbrush the second color over the stencil.
  4. Peel the stencil off while the color is still wet for the crispest edge, then cure and top coat. The stencils are durable enough to reuse.

Stocking nail stickers for a salon

  • The always-on sheets: a French-tip stencil, a flat floral decal, and a 3D heart or bow sheet. Those three cover most add-on requests.
  • Seasonal: filter by the summer or winter and holiday tag and swap the display each quarter.
  • Character designs: the cartoon sheets sell to teen and kids' manicures and as a take-home gift item; most sit in the under-$10 gift filter.
  • Retail: stickers are the easiest nail art product to sell at the desk, since a client can apply a flat decal at home over her own polish.

Stickers, stamping, or hand painting: when does each win?

A sticker wins on speed and consistency: the same floral on ten nails in the time hand painting takes for one, with no drying gap and no skill gap between techs. Stamping plates win on repeatability across many clients, because a plate is reusable and the design cost drops to zero after the first use, but they need stamping polish, a scraper, and practice. Hand painting wins on the custom request and on the upcharge it justifies. Most salons run all three: stencils and flat decals for the everyday add-on, a few plates for the patterns that get requested weekly, and hand painting only where the client is paying for it. The 3D and 5D stickers sit between sticker and hand-painted 3D art: raised detail with no sculpting, sealed with a top coat around the edges.

Care and removal

  • A sealed sticker wears as long as the manicure under it. If an edge lifts, brush a little top coat under it and cure.
  • Remove with the manicure: soak-off for gel, remover for lacquer. Stickers are single use.
  • Store sheets flat in their packaging, away from heat, so the adhesive does not dry out.
  • Keep a small pair of pointed tweezers and a silicone press tool with the sticker drawer; fingers leave oil on the adhesive and lift the edges.
  • Cut large flat decals to the nail with small scissors before peeling rather than trimming on the nail.

Stickers by the season

MonthsStickerHow it is sold on the menu
January and FebruaryHearts and cherries from the MO 3D series; the YT hearts-and-stars stencilValentine accent nails and a stenciled heart tip
SpringFlower MO stickers; JO floral decals; the YT bows stencilA full-nail floral decal on two nails, bows on the rest
SummerEmoji and fruit MO stickersThe quick kids' and teens' accent
FallThe YT plaid stencil over mocha and burgundyA stenciled plaid nail that would take ten minutes to paint
Holiday and bridalSD 5D embossed stickers; JO fine-line decals; the YT sparkle stencilRaised lace and gold-line statement nails

Because a sheet carries many pieces and a set uses one or two, the themed sheets are bought once per season and outlast it; the stencils are the consumable, since each stencil is used once.

Stickers over dip, acrylic, and press-ons

A sticker sits on any smooth, sealed surface, which makes it the art that works on every system in the salon. Over a dip set, the powder is sealed and buffed, the sticker pressed on, and a gel or dip top applied over it. Over acrylic, a thin gel top is cured first so the sticker lies on gloss rather than on filed product. On a press-on, the sticker goes on before the top coat, at the desk, so a retail press-on set can be themed to order. In each case the edge of the sticker is what fails first, and it fails when the top coat stops short of it; the top is floated past the sticker edge onto the base color and capped at the free edge.

Pricing a sticker nail

A sticker accent is the lowest-cost art on the menu: a piece from a sheet, a top coat, and a minute of time. Salons price it as a flat per-nail add-on for the 3D and decal stickers and a slightly higher one for the 5D embossed pieces and the stenciled designs, which take a second polish step. Because the material cost is a few cents, the price is for the time and the look, and a themed accent on two nails is the upsell that most clients say yes to when it is shown on the swatch card at the desk.

Where stickers fit against the art gels

Stickers do not replace liner gel, painting gel, or stamping; they cover the requests where the design would take longer to draw than the client will pay for. A repeated character, a fine lace pattern, a full-nail print, or a themed accent for a children's party is a sticker job. A single line, a French, or a hand-drawn flower stays with the liner and painting gels, because a sticker of a simple design looks like a sticker. Most salons keep two sheets of 3D stickers, one sheet of decals, and the stencil packs at the art tray, and reach for them when the booking is short or the design is repetitive.
