Frequently asked questions
What is in the LDS Midnight Merry set?
Twelve LDS Universal Cat Eye gels in 0.5 oz bottles, numbered RB01 to RB12: Crystal, Mirror, Rainbow I, Rainbow II, Silver, Gold, Moon Light, Super Crystal, Light Gold Light, RoseGold Light, Copper Light, and Darkgold Light. It is the holiday edition of the Universal Cat Eye line, themed From Spooky Nights to Sparkling Lights. A nail magnet is not included and is sold separately.
What does universal cat eye mean?
The gel is made to be worn over any base, so the color underneath decides the look. Over a clear base it reads soft and pearly; over a black base the line turns sharp and bright; over a red or green gel it adds a gold or silver line to that color. The set photos swatch every number both ways. Keeping a black gel and a clear base beside the set lets a tech show a client both versions before choosing.
How do I make the cat eye line?
Apply a thin coat of the cat eye gel over a cured base, hold a nail magnet close to the nail for 5 to 10 seconds before curing until the line forms, then cure under a UV or LED lamp and finish with a cured gel top coat. Flat magnet over the nail gives Glitter Galaxy, magnet at the tip drawn back gives Full Moon, and an angled magnet gives Classic Slant.
Can I buy single colors from the set?
Yes. All twelve numbers are sold as single 0.5 oz bottles on this page, so a salon can start with the golds and silver or refill the one bottle that runs out first, by RB number. The same twelve singles also appear on the LDS Universal Cat Eye page beside the everyday RB set.
How long does it last?
The Midnight Merry box rates the line at 28 days and over of wear, and the single listings describe up to 3+ weeks without chipping, cracking, or fading. Thin coats, a full cure on every layer, and a capped free edge are what get a set to that range.
LDS Midnight Merry: twelve Universal Cat Eye gels, RB01 to RB12, as a holiday set or singly
This page holds the LDS Midnight Merry Collection at ND Nails Supply: the holiday edition of the LDS Universal Cat Eye line, themed "From Spooky Nights to Sparkling Lights", one set that carries a salon from Halloween through Christmas. It is twelve magnetic cat eye gels numbered RB01 to RB12, Crystal, Mirror, Rainbow I, Rainbow II, Silver, Gold, Moon Light, Super Crystal, Light Gold Light, RoseGold Light, Copper Light, and Darkgold Light, sold as the Midnight Merry set of all twelve and as single 0.5 oz bottles, thirteen listings in all. Each gel carries ultra-fine magnetic particles that gather into a line of light when a magnet is held over the wet coat, and the particles keep catching light after the cure, so the nail reads as glitter and cat eye at once. Everything is wholesale-priced for everyone, no license and no minimum.
What is on this page
| Listing | Count | What arrives |
|---|---|---|
| Midnight Merry set | 1 | Twelve 0.5 oz bottles, RB01 to RB12, in the holiday edition |
| Universal Cat Eye single, RB01 to RB12 | 12 | One 0.5 oz bottle of the numbered shade |
The singles are the same twelve numbers the set holds, so a bottle that runs out of the set is reordered from this page by its RB number. The same twelve also sit on the LDS Universal Cat Eye page beside the everyday RB set; Midnight Merry is the edition with the holiday theme and the expanded box notes, and a nail magnet is sold separately in both cases.
The twelve numbers
| Number | Name | Where it sits in the range |
|---|---|---|
| RB01 | Crystal | The clear end of the range |
| RB02 | Mirror | Named for a mirror-bright line |
| RB03 | Rainbow I | A multi-tone shift, first of the pair |
| RB04 | Rainbow II | A multi-tone shift, second of the pair |
| RB05 | Silver | The silver tone |
| RB06 | Gold | The gold tone |
| RB07 | Moon Light | Named for a soft, moonlit glow |
| RB08 | Super Crystal | The stronger crystal sparkle |
| RB09 | Light Gold Light | A pale gold |
| RB10 | RoseGold Light | A rose-gold |
| RB11 | Copper Light | A copper |
| RB12 | Darkgold Light | A deep gold |
The set's notes describe the range as running from crystal clear to silver and gold; the right-hand column is read from that note and from each shade's name. The color chart in the set photos swatches every number twice, over a clear base and over a black base, and that chart is the reference to pick from.
One gel, two looks: clear base or black base
These are universal cat eye gels, which means the color underneath decides the result. Over a clear base the same bottle reads soft and pearly; over a black base the line turns sharp and bright, because a dark base gives the light something to stand out against. They can also go over any other gel color to change its look, which is how one bottle of Gold or Copper Light covers a black Halloween set in October and a red or green Christmas set in December. A salon that keeps a black gel and a clear base beside the set can show a client both versions of every number from the chart before choosing.
Three cat eye shapes from the same bottle
- Glitter Galaxy. The magnet held flat over the whole nail spreads the particles, and the nail reads as fine glitter.
- Full Moon. The magnet held at the tip, then drawn back, gathers the light into a round halo.
- Classic Slant. The magnet held at an angle along the nail gives the single diagonal band of light most clients picture when they ask for cat eye.
The shape depends on where the magnet is and how long it stays there, not on the bottle, so one set gives a salon three looks per number. ND's nail magnet page holds the sticks and double-head magnets that make each shape.
How to apply a Universal Cat Eye gel
- Prep. Push back, remove shine, dust, and dehydrate the natural nail.
- Base. A thin coat of gel base, cured.
- Color underneath, if wanted. A coat of black or any gel color for a colored base, cured.
- Cat eye. A thin coat of the cat eye gel; before curing, hold the magnet close to the nail for 5 to 10 seconds until the line forms, then cure.
- Top. A gel top coat, cured. Every coat cures under a UV or LED lamp.
Work one or two nails at a time on the cat eye step: the particles start to drift back once the magnet is taken away, so the line should go into the lamp within a few seconds of forming.
Why a cat eye line blurs, and the fix
- The line is soft or wide: the magnet was too far from the nail or moved. Hold it close and still for the full 5 to 10 seconds.
- The line faded before the cure: too long between magnet and lamp. Cure each nail right after the line forms.
- The look is too sheer: the base was clear. Lay a black base under the cat eye coat for a brighter line.
- The coat wrinkled: it went on thick. Keep the cat eye layer thin; the magnet needs the particles free to move in a thin coat.
Wear and texture
The Midnight Merry box rates the line at 28 days and over of wear; the Universal Cat Eye singles' listings describe wear of up to 3+ weeks without chipping, cracking, or fading. Both describe a smooth, self-leveling texture with strong coverage that works for beginners and professionals, and the glitter shine that stays after the line is set.
Building a holiday menu from the set
- Halloween. Gold, Copper Light, or Darkgold Light over a black base, finished as a Classic Slant, for a moody, glowing set.
- Christmas. Silver or Light Gold Light over red or green gel, or RoseGold Light as a Full Moon, for the party nail.
- New Year's Eve. Super Crystal or Mirror as a Glitter Galaxy over black for the all-over sparkle.
- The quiet option. Crystal or Moon Light over a clear base for the soft pearl a client can wear to work.
Storage and reorder
Store the twelve upright in number order, out of sunlight and away from the lamp, with the caps tight and the necks wiped. Magnetic particles settle while a bottle sits, so roll or stir each bottle before use until the color is even, then apply. Reorder single bottles by RB number from this page; the fastest movers on a holiday menu are usually the golds and the silver.
