How to use LDS liner gel
- Base. Apply and cure the base color. Wipe the tacky layer for the crispest line, or draw on it for a softer edge; both hold.
- Load lightly. Wipe the brush on the bottle neck and use the tip. Too much gel is the cause of a line that spreads.
- Pull the line. Rest the hand, draw toward yourself in one motion, and lift the brush to thin the stroke rather than pressing.
- Cure between colors. 60 seconds under LED before a second color crosses the first.
- Top coat. Seal the design and cure; the liner gel is not designed to be worn bare.
For the Laser Silver, cover the whole nail for a holographic chrome without powder, or use it as a liner for a rainbow line; for the Rhinestone Gel, dab a bead, press the stone in, and cure with the stone held down.

Common liner problems and the fix
- The line spreads: too much gel on the brush; wipe and use the tip only.
- The line breaks mid-stroke: the brush ran dry; reload for every long line.
- White reads grey over black: cure and run a second pass on the same line.
- Glitter liner is patchy: roll the bottle between the palms first; the glitter settles.
- Brush splays: wipe it clean on the neck after each use and cap tightly; a splayed brush can be reshaped in a drop of cleanser.
Can the liners be worn as a full-coverage color?
The Laser Silver and Silver Metallic gels are made for it: cover the whole nail for a holographic chrome or a mirror silver with no powder, cure, and top. The standard liners can be used the same way on an accent nail, since the pigment covers in one pass, but the liner brush is slow across a whole nail, so most techs reserve them for lines and use a regular gel for the base. The Platinum liners split the difference: a metallic French tip painted with the liner brush over a nude base is the fastest metallic French on the menu.

Line art as a free upgrade and as a paid one
Salons use the black and white liners two ways. As a complimentary touch, a single white line on a nude set or a thin black outline on one nail costs a few seconds of gel and sends the client out with a set that looks designed rather than plain, which is the kind of detail that gets photographed and rebooked. Liner gel over dip and acrylic
The LDS liners are gels, so over a dip or acrylic set they need a cured gel surface to grip. File and buff the set, apply a thin gel top coat and cure it, then draw on the cured top; a line drawn straight onto a dip top coat or a buffed acrylic surface lifts at the first wash. Over a gel manicure the line goes directly on the cured color. In both cases the design is sealed under a no-wipe top, and the free edge is capped so the line at the tip does not wear first. A liner that has to cross a chrome or cat eye nail goes on after that effect is sealed, over a thin cured top, for the same reason.
