142 Lethal Obsidian gives you a soft gray and a wet-look gloss in one bottle. Gray is a neutral that works year round and does not fight a client's outfit.
What you get in the bottle
- No HEMA, no TPO: HEMA is the methacrylate in ordinary gel that most commonly sits behind redness around the nail fold, and TPO is a photoinitiator that can irritate skin and eyes. This line leaves both out.
- Built for reactive clients: ND positions the line for salons carrying clients who have reacted to ordinary gel, and for techs with their hands in product all day.
- Self-levelling texture: DND 142 Lethal Obsidian settles itself after the stroke, so the surface evens out instead of holding brush marks.
- Pigment that covers: a highly pigmented formula with a high-gloss finish.

- Prep the nail: shape, push back, buff flat, dehydrate.
- Base coat: thin, capped, cured.
- Build the colour: two thin coats of DND 142 Lethal Obsidian, curing between them, rather than one thick pass.
- Seal it in: top gel over the whole nail and cure.
- Tacky layer: wipe it off if your top coat leaves one.
- Aftercare: oil the cuticle and check the sidewalls before the client stands up.
Where this shade gets booked
- Minimal sets: gray is a neutral that works year round and does not fight a client's outfit.
- Pairing work: it sits next to a matte top coat or a chrome accent.
- Short nails, where a glossy finish is what the client asked for.
HEMA-free against a standard gel
There is one decision here and it is a formula decision. Ordinary gel is built on HEMA and usually cures with TPO. DND 142 Lethal Obsidian has neither, and keeps the pigment load and the high-gloss finish that make the regular line worth stocking. Most salons start with the clients who have had a reaction and widen out from there. Patch test anyone with a known allergy.
How to take it off
DND 142 Lethal Obsidian is a soak-off gel, so nothing here needs to be drilled off. Break the seal by filing through the top coat until the shine is gone, then wrap each nail in an acetone-soaked pad and leave it long enough for the layers to lift on their own. Ease the softened gel off with a wooden pusher. If it resists, re-wrap rather than scrape, because scraping is what thins the plate and causes the next set to lift.
DND 142 Lethal Obsidian is stocked alongside the DND HEMA and TPO free collection, the whole gel and lacquer category and the full DND gel and lacquer wall.
