Why Rounded Tapered Nails Are a Simple, Uplifting Win

Do you wish your fingers looked more graceful? Are you frustrated with chipped manicures and snagged clothes? Then there’s an easy solution! Rounded tapered nails make your hands look elegant without any extra fuss. The shape follows your natural nail line, so it’s easy to keep up and comfortable to wear. Since it flatters every finger shape and nail length, it looks beautiful with a natural finish or bold nail art. If you want to see why rounded tapered nails will suit you, we’ll show you right here.

Why Rounded Tapered Nails Are a Simple, Uplifting Win

Lengthen and Strengthen

Let’s start with the practical reason why many people choose rounded tapered nails. It comes down to solving a serious problem: broken nails. Rounded tips are stronger by nature. They are less likely to break under strain. Also, unlike square tips and pointy stilettos, rounded tips are unlikely to snag on clothing. Since they are resistant to damage, they are the best choice for busy people who don’t want to spend time fixing broken nails or touching up chips.

What’s more, the tapered length naturally makes fingers look longer and more slender. This illusion works especially well with sheer shades and nude nails as you may have seen with the mannequin nails trend. But this doesn’t mean your nails have to be boring! Here’s a blush pink set of rounded, tapered nails so you can see why the style lends itself well to beautiful designs even on neutral tones.

This manicure features the new LDS Silver Metallic Gel, a nail art product like no other. In moments, it creates holographic magic on your fingertips. Play with it under different types of light to explore the full effect.

The look also relies on non-sticky LAVIS Builder Gel in a jar to sculpt the flowers. It adheres to the nail, but not to the tool, for effortless molding. When you see how easy it is to shape nail art with non-sticky builder gel, you’ll be hooked! It’s a good thing that we have affordable prices because anyone can create stunning looks with these two products!

Flatter Your Fingertips

Cosmo recently published an article about rounded, tapered nails. The text pointed out that this shape really does flatter every finger shape and nail length. Although it suggested sheer polish and French manicures, it mentions that this style can make any look more sophisticated. It never requires a specific nail length, color, or style to look spectacular.

If you want to put rounded, tapered nails to the test, we suggest trying the shape with a bold polish like one from Chaun Legend’s Stardust Bundle. The selection of shades in that glitter-packed set is absolutely dazzling. It’s hypnotic to see so much sparkle with just one coat.

Bring Nail Art to Life

An artist can tell you that the canvas has quite an impact on how the work turns out. Here Anna, our genius nail artist, started with LAVIS Almond Long soft gel tips with a high apex for an even more refined look. If you haven’t tried soft gel tips yet, you should know that they are very easy to apply, plus they soak off for non-damaging removal. Also, you don't need to spend time filing like you would with acrylic tips or even apply a base coat.

After curing the tips, she brushed on LAVIS Super Black gel, cured it, and made it sparkle with Crystal Universal cat eye gel. But it’s shocking to see what she did next.

She applied LAVIS Chrome Matte Top and took all the glitter away! Why in the world would she do that? It’s because she wanted to use clear emboss gel with a metal stamping plate and a silicone stamper, followed by chrome powder. Chrome Matte Top coat is essential when working with chrome so that the powder only sticks to the embossed design and not the rest of the nail. Therefore, she was able to stamp the design and polish it with chrome powder without making a mess.

When she applied the Diamond Top coat, all the glorious shimmer came right back!

Three Ways to Achieve Rounded Tapered Nails

No matter whether you choose to shape natural nails, sculpt extensions, or apply soft gel tips, these are all valid ways to get rounded, tapered nails.

If you’ll be filing natural nails, it takes practice to keep the sides balanced. But the effort is worth it because the shape protects the natural nails from tearing or breaking. It’s especially beneficial for active people and those with brittle nails.

If instead you prefer to wear soft gel tips, here’s an example of how much fun you can have with cat eye polish and glitter gel. The color disguises where the natural nails end while the transparent tips make this look even more hypnotic.

Sculpting Rounded Tapered Nails

If you crave even longer nails, they are straightforward to sculpt with poly extension gel or builder gel. Here the artist used LAVIS Builder in the Jar in the Strawberry Gloss color with nail forms to create long, rounded, tapered tips. She coated about two thirds of the inside of the form with the builder gel and flash cured it to harden it. Then, she added enough to attach the extension to the natural nail and held the form in place while curing the builder gel. When she pulled off the form, the newly sculpted nail needed a little filing. Finally, a glossy top coat made to beautifully sheer shade look lovely.
